Ponderosa Stomp 8 Photos Night 1

I was prouder than ever to be involved with the Ponderosa Stomp, this was my fourth year down there. So many unforgettable performances - the first night featured Howard Tate (who was on fire), legendary producer, songwriter and singer Cowboy Jack Clement, Otis Clay with the original Hi Rhythm Section, The Legendary Stardust Cowboy (PARALYZED!) and Dale Hawkins sharing the stage with guitar phenom (and original session player) James Burton for the first time in 30-odd years.

I went down to help out, make portraits, document the panels and shows and I loved every second of it. Normally I can't wait to do it all over again, but our prayers have been answered: The Ponderosa Stomp is programming 3 nights this summer with Lincoln Center (July 16, 17, 19) so I better see every one of you nuts out paying your respect.

  1. Dear Jacob
I've just seen your pictures of the Ponderosa Stomp and they really, really gave me a good feeling. Me and my wife Honey flew over from Amsterdam to attend the Stomp and Jazzfest and enjoyed ourselves a lot. I came to your website through the pictures you made of Sir Lattimore Brown and Wiley and the Checkmates. In collaboration with Red Kelly I designed the poster and flyers for the event in the Bank Street Bar. We had it all printed here in Amsterdam and boarded the plane with 30 kilos of printwork.
That project was really something! Especially the fact that Lattimore also was invited by Dr. Ike to perform at The Stomp and ended up at the New York Times website with his picture (a photo made by Cheryl Gerber). We did that all together.
Anyway... I really appreciate your powerful and colorful images.
    Sharp eye and great craftmanship.
All the best of luck from rainy Amsterdam.
